Journal

Reflections on the world, from my perspective as a thinking mother and business owner who aims to be better than I used I to be.

Seasons

It’s important to develop annual rituals to correspond with the changing of the seasons. The circular nature of our calendar creates opportunities to repeat and get better with each year. It’s in this imperfect cycle we find stability. Think about items you need for each season ahead of time. Is it important to have food in your freezer for days when weather impacts your travel? Do you find certain skincare products are most important for the cold? What immune busters do you need on hand for your commute or going back to school.

Make the same preparations to develop your routines of self care. Get comfortable with the repetitive nature of nurturing. Choose teas, skin products, and personal indulgences that match the season of your life. Invite smells that welcome feelings of belonging and being home. Allow change to be in collaboration with being still. Picture a tree’s roots holding strong while it’s leaves dance with the direction of the wind. Understand that both are true at the same time.
